We are looking for an experienced Science Teacher to join our Morven Campus (Grades 8-12).  The ideal candidate will be a passionate and committed educator who will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the many facets of school life, including extra-curricular responsibilities. This is a Temporary Contract position from August 28, 2026 to June 30, 2027.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Science instruction aligned with the BC Ministry of Education curriculum and, where applicable, Advanced Placement courses
  • Design and facilitate inquiry-based learning experiences, including laboratory investigations and opportunities for real-world application of scientific concepts
  • Differentiate instruction to support a wide range of learners within a rigorous and collaborative classroom environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative lessons, units, and assessment strategies
  • Assess student learning and communicate progress clearly through feedback and formal reporting
  • Support the development of students’ critical thinking, research, and scientific communication skills
  • Provide additional academic support to students through tutorials or help sessions outside of class time
  • Lead a co-curricular activity within one of the school’s four strands: Arts, Athletics, Academics, or Service
  • Participate in school events and initiatives that support community engagement and student life
  • Serve as an Advisor teacher or Community FLEX lead as assigned


Required qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education, with undergraduate studies in Science
  • Experience teaching the BC Ministry Science curriculum at the secondary level
  • BC Teaching Certification
  • Basic First Aid
  • Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada


Preferred qualifications and experiences

  • Experience teaching or interest in teaching at the Grades 8 and 9 level is an asset
  • Proven experience in competency-based learning and assessment practices
  • Committed to continue learning and improving teaching practice
  • Passionate about inspiring students to engage with authentic real-world problems
  • Driven to take risks in the development of new pedagogical and assessment practices
  • Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment is an asset

The current 2025-26 faculty grid annual salary range for this position is *$75,322 to $112,169 based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education.
