The 2026-27 faculty grid for this position is $75,461 to $116,035 based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education. Faculty with a Master’s will be paid at a higher range. 

Mulgrave School is seeking an exceptional Junior School Classroom Teacher (Lower Primary) to join our vibrant and collaborative learning community. This is a full-time, permanent position within our International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Our Associate Teacher model is a distinctive and rewarding aspect of teaching at Mulgrave:

  • One Associate Teacher per class in Grades K–3
  • One Associate Teacher per grade in Grades 4–5

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Lead Teacher in a PYP classroom (grade level determined by experience and interest)
  • Support and mentor Associate Teachers, fostering an effective and collaborative partnership
  • Collaborate with specialist teachers (Languages, Music, PHE, Literacy, etc.) to ensure cohesive programming
  • Work closely with the personal counsellor and learning strategies team to provide personalised student support
  • Contribute beyond the classroom through co-curricular activities,
  • Outdoor Education, camps, field trips, clubs, sports, and special events

  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, colleagues, and parents

Required Qualifications

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid work visa)
  • Current British Columbia teacher certification (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
  • Minimum of 2 years successful elementary teaching experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IB Primary Years Programme
  • Age-appropriate First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Qualifications & Qualities

  • Experience teaching in the IB PYP
  • Involvement with the IB Educator Network (e.g., workshop leader, site visitor)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for mentoring emerging educators

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
