Collingwood School also offers remarkable Day Camps during the summer. We provide high-quality, comprehensive programming for 200 campers/week aged 4 to 14, spanning Arts + Media, Sports + Adventure, Nature + Wellness and Science + Discovery. As part of our camp team, you will make a difference by creating opportunities for fun, friendships, and skill development!

We’re looking for passionate Signature Camp Counsellors to join our team! Camp Counsellors support the daily operations of our Signature Camp program by providing attentive supervision, engagement, and care for campers. This position is responsible for fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive environment while actively participating in all scheduled camp activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a level of responsibility, dedication, good judgement and enthusiasm to ensure a safe and fun environment for all members of our community.

Mandatory Training Dates: June 23, 24, 25, 2026 8:30am-4:00pm (7.5 hours/day)
Contract Dates: June 29 – August 7, 2026 *preference given to candidates who can work all weeks
Hours: 8:15am – 4:00pm (7.75 hours/day) from Monday-Friday

Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Camper Safety & Supervision
    Actively supervise and be attentive to the physical and emotional safety of all campers throughout the day, including during activities, transitions, and high-traffic times (drop-off/pick-up, lunch).
  • Program Leadership & Delivery
    Lead assigned activities, assist with program setup and clean up, and foster communication, inclusion, skill-building, and fair play between campers and the group as a whole. Activities may include arts + crafts, sports, games, outdoor play, STEM challenges and performing arts. Provide Before and/or After Care during assigned shifts.
  • Communication
    Maintain open and proactive communication with colleagues, and families if needed. Assist in maintaining accurate records (attendance, incident reports), and be quick with reporting any concerns or incidents.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork
    Attend all scheduled meetings/training, be punctual, organized, and ready to support all camp staff and campers; be able to adjust as duties may change based on camp needs. Contribute to an energetic camp culture that promotes teamwork, personal growth and enjoyment!
  • Professional Conduct & Compliance
    Serve as a positive role model, uphold all camp policies, values, and safety procedures, and maintain a clean, safe, and fun camp environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Previous camp experience or related experience working with school-aged children is preferred
  • Skills, education or relevant experience in the desired program area
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification required before start of camp 
  • Criminal Reference Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check (working with children) is required for staff 16 years of age or older, and will be completed by Collingwood
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve effectively and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a wide variety of ages and demographic groups
  • Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and positive attitude
  • Proof of legal entitlement to work in Canada 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:  

  • Able to work in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions (i.e.: heat)
  • Participate and engage in all types of outdoor & indoor activities, including but not limited to running around, sitting on the ground, etc.
  • Lifting and moving camp equipment and supplies from one location to another
  • Walking and/or standing for long periods of time (3+ hours at a time, 7+ hours per day)

The hourly pay rate is $20/hr. This job opportunity offers mentorship from the Camps Leadership Team, and; an amazing summer with a supportive team, filled with fun opportunities of leadership development and growth with weekly fun staff social events.
