Middle School Educational Assistant (French language focus) 
Temporary, Full-Time (through the school year), starting November 2025

The Position: 
Under the direction of the Learning Resource Teacher, the Educational Assistant (EA) works with high-functioning students with various learning exceptionalities who receive small group or individual support with their learning. In particular, this role will provide support with French language learning. Educational assistants support our teachers in promoting differentiated learning through additional instruction and reinforcement. They also support the outcomes identified in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This position requires the ability to work as a team member, flexibility, and a commitment to professional learning. This position also requires the ability to complete administrative and organizational tasks, supporting the running of the Learning Resource department. 

The successful candidate will have the following skills, background, and interests:

  • Education Assistant Certification, or equivalent.
  • Specialization in the field of Special Education.
  • Experience supporting students with French is required.
  • Understanding of the developmental needs of Middle School students.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct students in a wide variety of learning strategies.
  • Experience using technology for day-to-day documentation, communication, and assistive technologies to support students with accommodations.
  • Strong administrative background and detail oriented.
  • Strong communication/collaboration skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Supports the pursuit of academic success in an environment where the character and self also grow.
  • Support a variety of learners, including students with learning exceptionalities, giftedness, challenges with mental health, and executive functioning weaknesses.
  • Support learners with French language.
  • Effective collaboration, organization, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking and managing several competing priorities at one time.
  • Team player who can anticipate problems and be pro-active in approach.  

Salary: 

Annual Range: $52,281 – $56,590 (This salary range would be pro-rated due to starting part way through the school year).

Criminal Record Check: 
Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.
