We are seeking casual supervisors to provide support to our Senior School Library. This role involves overseeing daily operations, assisting students, and ensuring an inclusive, welcoming, and calm environment. We are looking for availability on Monday and Thursday evenings for recurring shifts from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. Additional work may also be available for on-call coverage on other evenings, and on Sunday afternoons.  
  
The successful candidates will have the following skills, background and interests:  
 
Qualifications: 

  • Minimum Grade 12 graduation required. 
  • Familiarity with the Google Suite (e.g., Google Classroom, Google Docs), or a willingness to be trained in use of the platform. 
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in communicating instructions to students.  
  • Attention to detail and consistency in follow-up.  
  • High level of professionalism, reliability and punctuality.  
  • Ability to work independently.  
  • Previous experience in a library is an asset. 

Key Responsibilities & Expectations: 

  • Supervise students to ensure a welcoming and secure learning commons conducive to collaborative and independent study.  
  • Assist students with queries and requests and replenish supplies as needed.  
  • Troubleshoot issues as needed e.g.: difficulty printing, finding or checking out books.  
  • Maintain a tidy and organized learning commons.  
  • Check in and shelve books and perform regular shelf-reading.  
  • Maintain shelves to ensure ready and safe access to books.  
  • Other duties as required such as selecting books for displays, filling special requests from teachers on specific subject areas, searching the stacks for lost or missing books, taking inventory, and processing and discarding books.  

Pay Range:   
 
Hourly pay range: $20.51 to $30.77.  
 
Criminal Record Check:  
 
Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.
