Spring Break Camp: March 16 – April 2, 2026

St. Michaels University School’s External Programs Department offers an array of educational enrichment programs for all students. During holiday periods (winter, spring, summer breaks), the programs provide a learning experience for students aged 5-16 that emphasize skill development, cooperation, participation, and fun. 

The Position: 

We are seeking energetic and enthusiastic Camp Leaders for St. Michaels University School (SMUS) Spring Camps program. Reporting to the Coordinator After School Care and Camps, the Camp Leader focuses on role modeling within the camp and engaging participants by actively participating in programming. Camp Leaders support and mentor SMUS Camp Assistants to gain experience by role modeling relationship building with campers and mediating minor behavioural challenges. Camp Leaders support the following camps: 

Discovery Camp: Work with kids aged 5 – 7 to run games, activities, arts and crafts based at the Jr. School Campus. Each week, take campers to local parks and exciting off-campus trips. 

Adventure Camp: Focused on taking a small group of kids ages 8 – 11 out on adventures 3-4 times a week to local parks, beaches, and hikes, maximizing time outdoors. 

Work Schedule: 

March 11, 2026: required two-hour orientation session. 

March 16-20 and 23-27, 2026: 8:30am to 4:30pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break 

Responsibilities include: 

Ensure a safe, fun, and engaging environment for all campers. 
Assist Senior Camp Leaders with daily camp preparation and execution of planned activities 
Assist with set up and clean up of spaces before, during and after programming 
Provide learning and guidance to campers on appropriate behaviour during play and activities 
Work collaboratively with other Camp Leaders and SMUS Camp Assistants.  
Build relationships with campers by showing compassion, empathy and understanding. 
Being the secondary point of contact after Senior Leaders for any parent/caregiver interactions 
Provide good customer service and clear communication with parents and caregivers. 
Camp Leaders may undertake Senior Camp Leader responsibilities; this is a great opportunity to gain experience and deeper knowledge. If you feel comfortable, we encourage you to accept these additional responsibilities. 
Experience and Qualifications: 

Experience mentoring or supervising children. 
Ability to communicate effectively with parents, campers, and other leaders. 
Ability to be tactful, demonstrate excellent judgment and work as a positive and collaborative team member. 
Valid First Aid certificate  
Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age 
Pay Range: 

Hourly pay range: $21.97 – $25.84. 

Criminal Record Check: 

Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.
