School Bus Driver
Permanent, Full-Time (1.0 FTE), starting in September 2025

Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, the bus driver is responsible for transporting students, as well as faculty and staff members, to and from school and extracurricular activities in a timely and safe manner. Hours of work vary, including shorter shifts, early mornings, afternoons, and some overnight trips.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations:
Transports students and/or equipment on local, out of town and overnight field trips in accordance with routes and schedules.
Directs, monitors and enforces proper bus etiquette, and ensures compliance with safe loading, riding and unloading procedures.
Communicates with Transportation Manager regarding student behaviour that requires follow up.
Knowledge of electronic devices such as smart phone and tablet, used to access work schedule and for pre-trip bus inspections.
Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with British Columbia (BC) Motor Vehicle Act, BC Air Brake Manual, National Safety Code and BC Professionals Drivers Manual.
Reports maintenance issues to Transportation Manager.
Ensures interior and exterior tidiness of school bus.
Provides orientation to temporary /new bus drivers.
Secures bus when not in use.
May be required to perform emergency first aid.
Complies with all Highway Traffic Acts and Safety Procedures
Other duties as required.
The successful candidate will have the following skills, background and interests:
Minimum valid British Columbia Class 2 driver’s license with Air Brake Endorsement.
Minimum Emergency (Basic) First Aid and CPR Level C certificate.
Minimum three years professional driving experience. Bus driving experience preferred.
Maintain a clean driver’s abstract.
Experience working with youth is an asset.
Must be able to communicate effectively and respectfully with all bus users and stakeholders.
Ability to read and interpret maps.
Flexibility to deal with changing situations such as route detours.
Pay Range:
Annual pay range: $57,016- $67,059
Criminal Record Check:
Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.
