About This Role
York House School is inviting applications from compassionate, innovative and qualified Resource Educational Assistants committed to providing an exceptional 21st-century learning environment for our students. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work with students with a variety of learning diversities. Through working alongside the Learning Strategies Coordinator, learning strategies and classroom teachers, Educational Assistants play an important role in the implementation of IEPs (Individual Education Plans) by performing a variety of functions to support our diverse learners, including working one-to-one with students in the classroom.
Qualifications
- Diploma of Educational Assistant with Special Education training
- Two years of working in Special Education preferred
- Experience and/or qualifications in working with children with hearing impairments, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and a range of neuro-diversities
- British Columbia Teachers’ certification is an asset
- Independent School experience is an asset
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of British Columbia Curriculum and pedagogy
- Knowledge of the current research on girls and learning, developing critical 21st-century global capacities
- Demonstrated experience as an enthusiastic and caring educator. A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in all its many dimensions
- Collaborative and flexible, supportive, and effective team-player
- Ability to develop strong professional relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Demonstrated commitment to educating the whole student
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology purposefully to transform learning
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and assessment practices to meet the needs of individual learners
