Position Summary:

St. John’s School has an opening for part-time After School Care Providers. The position will assist with the caring of children in grades K -7.  The position works on school days from Monday to Friday, from 3PM to 5:30PM. Partial week positions are also available. We welcome and encourage individuals who are interested in pursuing a future career in education to join us.


Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Ensures the After School Care Program complies with relevant legislation, procedures and requirements, including hygiene, health and safety and safeguarding regulations.
  • Manages the planning and delivery of age-appropriate play opportunities, ensuring they are carried out in a safe and caring environment for children.
  • Maintains accurate records and reporting related to attendance, behavior, and incidents.
  • Monitors how resources are utilized to ensure the After School Care Program is running in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • Undertakes such duties as may become necessary to ensure the successful running of the program.
  • Some direct care of children may be required.


  • Relevant post-secondary education such as Recreation, Childcare, or other.
  • Three years of related experience in childcare and/or program development and delivery is required.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, with school staff and parents.
  • Ability to be tactful, demonstrate excellent judgment, and work as a positive and collaborative team member.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, a self-starter and the ability to work independently.
  • Organized with the ability to work under deadlines with conflicting demands.
  • Valid First Aid certificate
  • Experience managing variety of children behaviors

Hourly wage: The position pays $25/hour

Position type: Part-time, on-call hourly

Conditions of Employment

The successful candidate will be required to complete child abuse prevention training provided by St. John’s School and provide consent for a criminal reference check for vulnerable sector. Clearance on criminal record check for vulnerable sector is a condition of employment.
