Qualification include:
● Proven experience in managing after school care programs, childcare, or related fields.
● Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
● Thorough knowledge of local licensing regulations and requirements for after school programs.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with children, parents, and staff.
● Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
● Experience with administrative tasks, including record keeping, scheduling, and basic budget awareness.
● A genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to providing a safe, fun, and educational environment.
● Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).
● Collaborative team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.
● Superior Emotional Intelligence (EQ) skills, including strong self-awareness, self-management, social agility, impact, and influence.
Responsibilities include:
● Program Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the daily operations of the After School Care program at the Junior School, ensuring a positive, safe, and well-structured environment for students.
● Licensing and Compliance: Work closely with local regulatory agencies to ensure the program consistently meets all licensing requirements and standards. Develop, implement, and maintain operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
● Administrative Oversight: Handle all administrative tasks efficiently, including creating and managing schedules, overseeing staff, and maintaining clear and consistent communication with parents. Ensure all program documentation and records are accurate and up-to-date for licensing and compliance purposes.
● Staff Recruitment, Supervision, and Training: Interview, hire, and onboard new program staff. Lead staff training initiatives, ensuring all team members are well-informed of licensing rules, school policies, and best practices in childcare. Provide ongoing supervision, support, and guidance to program team members.
● Program Development and Implementation: Organize and execute a diverse range of engaging program activities that support children’s development, foster their interests, and ensure their safety and well-being.
● Creating a Positive Environment: Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and fun environment where all children feel valued and supported.
● Parent Communication: Communicate with parents regularly and professionally to address any concerns.
● Budget and Resource Management: Assist with budgeting and resource management to ensure the program’s financial sustainability and efficient use of resources.
● Facility Operations: Oversee facility maintenance and operations related to the ASC program, including training staff on safety protocols, scheduling space usage, and ensuring the overall maintenance of program assets and licensed spaces.
● Safety and Risk Management: Follow established safety processes to identify and address potential hazards, ensuring safe conditions within the recreation facility and during program activities, including adherence to licensing safety requirements.
● Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, students, community stakeholders, and other school departments to enhance program and service delivery and offerings.
● Reporting: Prepare reports as required, including updates on program operations and any relevant information.
Hours include:
● Potential for shifts to be structured as 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM to accommodate both administrative tasks and program delivery. There may be an additional 5 hours per week for administrative work outside of direct afterschool care supervision, offering flexibility in scheduling.
● Currently, After School Care runs from class pickup at 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM on school days.
● Significant opportunity to further develop and lead summer programming initiatives. Potential for summer programming (June/July) with a tentative schedule of 3 days per week, with potential for some work-fromhome flexibility when appropriate.
● Following the August long weekend, the regular school year schedule resumes with 5 days per week.
