About This Role:

Reporting to the Director of Technology and Innovation, the Senior Data Analyst is a key technical role responsible for the implementation and management of the school’s data infrastructure. This position directly supports the YHS Spark Strategic Plan by building the technical foundation for data-informed decision-making and institutional research, which is essential for tracking progress on strategic goals. Working within the technology department’s “Sparking Innovation” initiative, this role will address current challenges of siloed data and manual processes by designing and implementing innovative, collaborative solutions that automate data flows, build accessible data solutions, and help push the boundaries of the school’s current data capabilities. The Senior Data Analyst will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the school, enabling them to leverage data to enhance programs and contribute to the overall strategic vision.  This role requires handling sensitive and confidential data across various departments, while upholding a strong commitment to data security.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a suite of dashboards in Google Looker Studio to support progress on institutional priorities, linking data visualization directly to the achievement of Spark strategic goals.
  • Design exports and views using Blackbaud reporting capabilities and Google services such as BigQuery & Google Sheets to bolster stakeholder access to data, fostering a culture of data accessibility and use across departments.
  • Consult on Blackbaud configuration to enhance the standardization and cleanliness of school data, providing a robust foundation for strategic analysis and reporting.
  • Document and refine processes and timelines for prospect, student, family, and academic data , aiming to reduce manual interventions and improve data flow efficiency.
  • Access, integrate, and manage sensitive and confidential institutional data residing in various departmental systems, including but not limited to HR, Finance, Advancement, Enrollment Management, and Academic records.
  • Implement and maintain data processes that adhere to the school’s data security policies, contributing to a strong data cybersecurity foundation when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with at least one data visualization platform like Google Looker Studio, Power BI, Qualtrics and/or Tableau is required.
  • Must possess strong skills pertaining to data management with application for educational environments. Examples include advanced knowledge of Google Sheets, Excel, SQL, and/or Data Warehouse platforms including using APIs to automate data synchronization.
  • Should have experience gathering functional requirements and translating them into technical solutions (preferably in an educational environment).
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud Education Management, student information system configuration, and basic coding is preferred.
  • Two years or more of experience in an educational or non-profit setting is strongly preferred.

  • A strong work ethic, high ethical standards, self confidence, and proven time-management skills, essential for managing complex data projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated collaboration skills, vital for working across departmental silos and within the tech team’s collaborative innovation framework.
  • Motivated change agent willing to challenge conventional wisdom and implement new data approaches.
  • Possesses curiosity to explore data, question assumptions, and seek out new possibilities.
