The Head of Admissions, Junior School manages day student admissions for Kindergarten through Grade 7 at the Junior School campus. The Head of Admissions contributes to department-wide initiatives, ensuring all aspects of the Admissions program align with St. George’s Strategic Plan, mission, and core values.
The Head of Admissions, Junior School, is committed to strengthening St. George’s position as a preeminent school for boys. This individual is responsible for all front-end admission activities for prospective Junior School applicants, including screening, assessment, evaluation, and enrollment, under the direction of the Director of Admissions.
This is covering a one-year Maternity Leave, with overlap with the incumbent on either side of their leave for training and handover.

Qualifications will include:
● A Bachelor’s degree.
● A background in education with 2-3 years of admissions & recruitment experience preferred. Understanding & knowledge of elementary school culture is an asset.
● Exceptional interpersonal and listening skills, particularly when dealing with constituents one-on-one. Ability to manage sensitive conversations with professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.
● Excellent communication and public speaking skills with experience presenting to audiences of all sizes. Ability to interact with a diverse population with integrity, empathy, and sincerity.
● Demonstrated ability to resolve problems effectively.
● Strong organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure in a team environment to meet tight deadlines.
● Must be adaptable to rapid changes in school and department initiatives and technology use.
● Proficiency with database management and Google Business Suite is an asset.
● Fluency in a second language is an asset.
● Willingness and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required; occasional travel may be required.
● High level of energy and enthusiasm for working with children and adolescents.

Strategic Direction
● Provides strategic input to all aspects of the Day Student Admissions cycle for the Junior School.
● Conducts ongoing analysis of trends and statistical data related to population growth and demographics as they impact Junior School Admissions.
● Supports planning and executing a comprehensive Admissions plan to ensure the Junior School meets its targets.
● Supports the Director of Admissions in developing and implementing strategies and initiatives to achieve department objectives.
● Interprets, applies, and explains admissions policies, regulations, and procedures.
Admissions Processing
● Manages all front-end admission activities for Junior School prospective
applicants, including screening, assessment, evaluation, decisions, and enrollment.
● Administers entrance assessments for the Junior School.
● Schedules, coordinates, and conducts majority of applicant interviews and
appointments.
● Communicates promptly and effectively with parents about Junior School
Admissions processes and applications to develop positive and effective
relationships.
● Supports the Admissions team with the processing of documents, applications, and the management of the Blackbaud database.
● Assists with administrative duties as needed.
Outreach & Recruitment
● Coordinates and participates in open houses, school tours, networking events, and outreach activities.
● Makes public appearances and presentations to various groups within the St.
George’s community and external organizations.
● Meets and liaises with parents; uses sound judgment to assess needs and
concerns and addresses these appropriately.
