University Counsellor 2026 -2027 Academic Year

Brentwood is renowned for its exceptional record of university placement quality. Our University Counselling team has established an international reputation by developing strong relationships with post-secondary admissions departments, parents, students and Brentwood graduates.

In the role of University Counsellor, your primary focus is to provide guidance and assistance through the application process for admission to post-secondary institutions, from envisioning career aspirations and structuring coursework appropriately, to completion of application documents and touring prospective post-secondary schools. Preference will be given to applicants with significant experience and expertise in counselling students in their post-secondary applications.

Key Responsibilities

You will counsel students to plan, structure and program Brentwood courses with university studies plans in mind. This includes assisting students with submitting applications, reviewing completed applications, and reviewing all supplementary material, such as essays and written responses for universities in Canada and beyond, including the USA, UK, and elsewhere. You will draft letters of recommendation and other application documentation and collate recommendations from faculty and staff. There will be one teaching block assigned to the role. Education / Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree – B.Ed or equivalent, post-graduate degree an asset
  • Experience with online platforms such as Maia Learning, MyBlueprint, and Google Classroom is an asset
  • Accredited to teach in the province of British Columbia

  • Criminal Record Check clearance is a condition of initial and ongoing employment
  • Must be legally and immediately entitled to work in Canada

  • Compensation will be based on placement on the 2026-27 teaching grid. (The 2025-26 teaching grid range is approximately $72,000 – $114,000)
