Meadowridge School is a thriving independent, co-educational, secular day school serving more than 640 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. As a fully accredited IB Continuum World School, we proudly offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP), providing students with a cohesive, globally minded education from ages 4 to 17. Position Summary

The Director of Facilities and Campus Improvement is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and enhancement of the campus’s physical environment. This position works closely with internal and external agencies and stakeholders ensuring compliance with regulations and alignment to the school’s mission, vision, and values.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Implementation: Overseeing the campus master plan, managing building permits, and developing sustainable strategies
  • Project Management:Handling large-scale capital projects, from planning to completion, including budget and schedule management
  • Operational Oversight:Oversee construction projects, maintenance programs, safety regulations, security, equipment fleet, licensing, facility rentals, inventory, reporting, Maple Ridge/Agricultural Land
  • Commission bylaw/building code adherence and operational budgets while minimizing the impact on school operations
  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements for third party suppliers or service providers
  • Develop and implement safety and risk management strategies for visitors, students, and staff
  • Manage, develop, and conduct performance reviews of direct reporting staff
  • Selects schedules and assigns staff, ensuring equal employment opportunity in hiring and promotion.
  • Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
  • Stakeholder Management:Liaise with city officials, construction teams, contractors, design teams, and the school community
  • Maintain regular meetings with the Head of School and CFO and Business Manager to ensure a transparent flow of information and short-term/long-term financial responsibility and stability is maintained
  • Maintain a highly collaborative disposition including the ability to lead a thorough and highly consultative planning and communication process involving multiple stakeholders
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Head of School

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of project and facilities management experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Degree in a related field
  • Knowledge of industry standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of ethics
  • Knowledge of building permit life cycle
