experience/BEd or Masters education (pro-rated to
reflect .8 FTE)

Position Overview:
Aspengrove School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and highly organized Learning Support Teacher to join our growing Senior School team (Grades 8–12). Due to enrollment growth and our steadfast commitment to inclusive education, we are expanding our Student Resource faculty to ensure our vibrant learning community thrives.  The ideal candidate will bring empathy, energy, and a deep expertise in supporting diverse learners. In this role, you will work closely with students in one-on-one, small group, and in-class settings, helping them navigate the academic and developmental
transitions of high school. At Aspengrove, we educate our students inside and outside of the classroom, and the successful candidate will also engage students through our advisory framework and vibrant co-curricular programs.

Roles and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include:
● Instructional Support: Planning, delivering, and tracking targeted interventions for students with diverse learning needs across Grades 8–12.
● Collaborating closely with the Student Resource Centre team to develop,
implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour plans.
● Supporting students with organization, time management, and planning
strategies; breaking down complex assignments into manageable steps and
creating realistic timelines.
● Collaborating with classroom teachers to apply multiple approaches to teaching, adapting materials, and introducing universal design strategies to support diverse learners.
● Consistently monitoring and tracking student progress toward academic and IEP goals.
● Communicating clearly, empathetically, and professionally with staff, students, and parents in person and via digital channels.
● Applying to the College Board for Accommodations for AP Exams.
● Participating in Senior School life activities, including supporting athletic events, clubs, or other co-curricular duties as required.
Required Knowledge and Skills
The qualities of the successful candidate include:
● Familiarity with:
o IB MYP courses
o BC Curriculum in Grades 8 to 12
● Experience, education or training in inquiry-based learning pedagogies and
universal design for learning strategies
● A strong, empathetic understanding of neurodiversity, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, ADHD, executive dysfunction, and social-emotional challenges.
● Fluent communication skills in English, both oral and written
● Strong organizational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
● The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Experience and Qualifications
● Canadian residency and the legal entitlement to work in Canada

● A valid BC teaching certificate or Independent School Certification qualifying criteria
