Performing Arts Instructor: Introduction to Performing Arts
Located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, Brentwood College School is committed to making our school the best place to learn and work. As one of the top boarding high schools in North America, we offer a vibrant culture, competitive compensation, a diverse student body, and an absolutely stunning oceanfront campus. Our Admissions motto is #choosetobe and this applies to our faculty as well.
Your Opportunity
Do you love being part of a dynamic and creative learning environment? Are you passionate about introducing students to the magic of the stage and inspiring them to pursue the arts?
This is a part-time position focused on teaching Introductory Performing Arts and potentially Vocal Ensemble if enrolment numbers would support this. Your innovative and comprehensive approach will be integral to the launch of our new Grade 9 course, which will include drama, musical theatre, and singing.
Our spectacular and innovative T. Gill Centre for Performing Arts allows for a multidisciplinary space to learn, create, and work collaboratively. You will be working alongside colleagues who are dedicated to supporting a positive student learning experience, from classroom to studio to athletic venue to boarding house.
Working at Brentwood
Working at Brentwood is not like working at a typical school. Because we have more than 80% of our students as boarders, we take on the duty and privilege of creating a home away from home. We have a tripartite system, where academics, arts, and athletics are all valued and an expectation for all students. This role’s ultimate goal is to inspire Grade 9 students through the new Introductory Performing Arts class, ensuring they embrace their artistic passion as they move through their senior years.
Your Qualifications and Experience:
- Hold a BC Teaching Certificate, Independent School Teaching Certificate or have the qualifications to promptly obtain a Letter of Permission
- Experience as a performing arts educator (institutional, community-based, or private) with specific skills in directing drama and musicals and accompanied by vocal studies
- Ability to provide individual tutoring to vocal students is a strong asset
- Demonstrated ability to inspire students and build confidence through Performing Arts Instruction and student mentorship
- Proven capacity for curriculum design and program development to engage students and drive program growth
Notes:
