Coaching and Boarding Intern
Temporary part-time, from August 25, 2025 to June 26, 2026

We are inviting applications from those interested in an Intern position working in Coaching and Boarding. Under the direction of the Athletic Director, they will coach three terms of sport that will include practice planning, tournament coaching and managing communication. There will be boarding responsibilities as identified by the Director of Boarding and Student Life. In this capacity, they will participate in the boarding community, build rapport with students, and support staff in creating a caring, nurturing environment.
The coaching assignment may vary from term to term, depending on the department’s needs.
Work Schedule:
Coaching Schedule: Weekdays: 3:30-8:30 pm. Weekend hours depending on tournament schedules. (Example shift: 3:30-5:30 pm, Monday-Thursday) Some weekend and overnight tournaments are expected on Fridays/Saturdays.
Boarding Schedule: Will accommodate the coaching schedule and will include later evening and/or weekend duties.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare a training schedule appropriate for the age/stage and competition level of a specific team.
Plan practices that include individual and team skills and tactics.
Supervise boarding students at scheduled times in the Boarding House, on campus and during organized off-campus activities.
Experience and Qualifications:
Work cooperatively as part of a coaching and boarding team.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including athletes, students, parents, and colleagues.
Share a passion for supporting students to grow as learners, athletes, and citizens in our community.
High school diploma and working toward a degree in education would be an asset.
Experience working with youth in educational or camp-like environments.
Coaching experience in an educational or club setting (experience in Basketball, Volleyball, Rugby, and Soccer is an asset).
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and support high school students.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and adapt to evolving educational needs.
Will be required to complete First Aid CPR level C.
Compensation:
Includes the following:
Meals in the dining hall during the duration of the contract term. Meals are a taxable benefit.
Housing in shared accommodation. Accommodation is a taxable benefit.
You will be required to work a total of 500 hours over the term of your contract.
If you are licensed to teach in British Columbia, you may be added to the Teacher on Call (TOC) list. Any hours worked as a TOC would be compensated based on your placement on the Faculty Grid. These hours would not be counted towards the 500 hours required as an intern.
Criminal Record Check:
Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.
