We’re a leading educational institution in North Vancouver dedicated to providing education and support for students with diverse learning needs. We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as Director of Counselling. The successful candidate will oversee our counselling department, providing guidance, support and leadership to a team of dedicated counsellors. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the mental health and well-being of our students, as well as supporting our school community in navigating various educational-related challenges.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the counselling department, including supervision counsellors
  • Develop and implement comprehensive counseling programs to address the diverse needs of our student population
  • Provide individual and group counselling services to students, focusing on academic, social and emotional development
  • Collaborate with teachers, families and community partners to support student success and well-being
  • Conduct appropriate assessments and develop personalized intervention plans for students with specific needs
  • Stay current with best practices in counselling and mental health interventions, integrating new tools and strategies into our programs as appropriate and needed
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions, team meetings and student progress
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the ongoing growth and improvement of the counselling department
  • Provide mentorship to the KGMS Counselling Team

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in counselling, preferably in an educational setting, independent or public school
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to empower a team
  • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students
  • Criminal Record Check Clearance
  • Experience working with students of Indigenous/Inuit/Metis ancestry is considered an asset

Salary band $80,183.82 – $102, 456.28 per year.

Salary and benefits are paid as per the collective agreement.
