3-D Sculpture and Woodworking Instructor 2024 – 2025 Academic Year

3-D Sculpture and Woodworking Instructor 2024 – 2025 Academic Year

Located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, Brentwood College School is committed to making our school the best place to learn and work. As one of the top boarding high schools in North America, we offer a vibrant culture, competitive compensation, a diverse student body, and an absolutely stunning oceanfront campus. Our Admissions motto is #choosetobe and this applies to our faculty as well.

Your Opportunity:

Do you love being part of a dynamic and creative learning environment? Are you accredited or able to become accredited to teach arts classes in the Province of British Columbia at a high school level? Arts instructors with a Letter of Permission are also encouraged to apply.

This is a part-time position teaching 3-D Sculpture and Woodworking at the secondary level at a competitive salary, based on years of experience. Our innovative Arts and Humanities Centre allows for a multidisciplinary space to learn, create and work collaboratively. Our Arts blocks are instructed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week.

You will be working alongside colleagues who are dedicated to supporting a positive student learning experience, from classroom to studio to athletic venue to boarding house. Your innovative nature will be supported as you create authentic learning opportunities for your students. The faculty at Brentwood do not work for the holidays. They want to work with students who are interested in learning and see a future that includes their skills and ideas. If you can see yourself working at a school where each student is contributing in academics, connecting to their passion in the arts and competing athletically wearing the school insignia, all while living away from home, Brentwood could be the community you’ve been looking for.

Working at Brentwood is not like working at a typical school. Because we have more than 80% of our students as boarders, we take on the duty and privilege of creating a home away from home. We have a tripartite system, where academics, arts, and athletics are all valued and an expectation for all students. Our unique schedule allows for more options for our students, meaning more options for our faculty. And can we talk about the food? Our Food Services Team is famous for creating delicious and diverse meals, all enjoyed while looking out over the ocean towards Mt. Baker.

Your Qualifications and Experience:

  • BC teaching certification or Letter of Permission to instruct studio arts classes
  • Experience as a fine arts educator (institutional, community–based or private), and ideally, teaching studio art classes in a high school environment
  • Familiarity with Grade 9 -12 BC Art curriculum an asset

Notes:

  • Criminal Record Check clearance is a condition of initial and ongoing employment.
  • Compensation range: $25,396 to $40,084 depending on years of experience

Please take the opportunity to review the Arts Instructor Position Profile  before submitting your cover letter and résumé to [email protected] by April 25, 2024.

We thank all applicants, however, only those shortlisted will be contacted.
