Do you love being part of a busy kitchen? As a 1st Cook, you’ll lead by example, fostering a collaborative atmosphere among kitchen staff and demonstrating exceptional time management skills to ensure timely meal preparation. Your dedication to upholding food safety standards and maintaining kitchen hygiene will be instrumental in delivering top-notch service to our students, faculty, and visitors.

You will collaborate closely with the kitchen team to develop and execute creative menu ideas. Consistently providing excellent communication skills and friendly service on an ongoing basis to all students, staff and guests for efficient and on-time meal service is a must. You believe that it is important to ensure that all aspects of your work are in compliance with applicable health and safety regulations and strictly adhere to all sanitary guidelines. You will enjoy working within and contributing to the School’s respectful workplace culture.

Your Opportunity:

This is a full-time position paying $28.30 per hour with an annual wage increase effective July 1, 2024. A consistent schedule will be offered where appropriate; however, based on operational needs or events, flexibility will be required, including weekends, evenings, overtime and split-shifts. Your Certificates and Experience:

  • Current certification in Food Safe and WHMIS required
  • Serving it Right (SIR) and First Aid would both be considered assets
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role that requires a high level of attention to detail, and high standards of personal and environmental cleanliness, such as in a large restaurant, hotel, cleaning service or working in another institutional setting performing a similar role
