Mulgrave is one of Canada’s leading independent co-educational pre-K – 12 day schools, serving the North Shore of Vancouver. We are an established IB Continuum World School with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We are now seeking applicants for the role of TOC, Upper School to start according to availability.

The main responsibility of the Upper School Teacher on Call is to offer assistance to the Upper School Division in cases of staff absences or special school events that require extra coverage. All substitute staff members are expected to be on-call and available to accept daily, weekly, and/or long-term assignments as needed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of subjects in the middle or senior school 
  • Design, prepare and deliver learning activities that have clear objectives and that facilitate authentic engagement
  • Keep up to date with developments in subject areas, teaching resources and methods
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs 
  • Use relevant technology to enhance instruction and learning
  • Design and assess a range of authentic assessments on a formative and summative basis, providing appropriate and timely feedback to students
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress for the purposes of teaching, learning and reporting
  • Establish a positive classroom environment and foster positive student conduct in accordance with the philosophy, values and disciplinary approach of the school
  • Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school, if applicable
    Participate in faculty and parent meetings as well as special school events, if applicable
  • Model respectful and timely communication with students, colleagues and parents

 

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates will be expected to have:

  • Canadian residency and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • All the requirements to be certified to teach in British Columbia
  • The appropriate background and qualifications for teaching 
  • Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment
  • Fluent communication skills in English, both oral and written
  • Strong organisational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
