Mulgrave is one of Canada’s leading independent co-educational pre-K – 12 day schools, serving the North Shore of Vancouver. We are an established IB Continuum World School with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We are now seeking applicants for the role of Art & Design Technician PK3-G5.
The role supports teachers in the Junior School and Early Years Makerspaces by preparing lesson materials and maintaining equipment and facilities. Reporting to the Makerspace Manager and collaborating with JS and EY teachers, the position is ideal for candidates passionate about working with children and youth in a creative environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with JS and EY teachers so that they can inspire our students to achieve their best in their Unit of Inquiry pursuits in the Makerspace
- Set up the space and materials for classes, liaising with teachers and Facilities to support requirements
- Maintain Junior School and Early Years Art and Design equipment, supplies and spaces (cleaning, organisation, inventory, ordering, sign-outs)
- Using specialised technical equipment for projects such as 3D printers, laser cutter, Cricut machines, printmaking press, ceramics kiln, large format printer, sewing machine, VR, robotics
- Assisting teachers with classes for large projects in the Makerspace
- Chaperone field trips when required
- Purchasing materials from local suppliers (driver’s licence and own vehicle required) and online via school accounts
- Cheque requisitions, planning tasks based on the calendar schedule, and further administration tasks
- Supporting liaison with MVP Makerspace volunteers
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years experience in or studying art in a post secondary institution
- Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with adults and young people
- Photoshop/ Affinity /Canva skills, plus Illustrator skills preferred
Immaculate attention to detail - Ability to lift 30 – 40 pounds and comfortable using ladders
- Current driver’s licence and own transport
- A strong background in studio art or design, and/or equivalent experience or education in a related field
- Must be available occasional evenings and weekends, time off in lieu will be offered.
Compensation:
The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $50,000.00 – $57,000.00. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
