The Senior School English Department is seeking a dynamic English Language Arts teacher who brings a passion for literature, composition and creative writing. Experience teaching ELL in English Language Arts and/or at the Advanced Placement level would be an asset.
The successful candidates will have the following skills, background and interest:
Must have a current, BC Teaching License
Post-secondary studies in English, Literary Studies or equivalent
Experience and familiarity with the redesigned BC Ministry of Education English Language Arts curriculum from grades 9 to 12
Strong communication skills
Passion for creative writing and guiding young writers
Provides a learning environment that enables individual learners to thrive within a differentiated and highly motivating learning environment
Demonstrated ability and experience using a variety of inquiry-based teaching assessment strategies
A commitment to pastoral care of students and their well-being
Evidence and understanding of the role of collaborative curriculum planning within a dynamic educational team
Evidence of lifelong learning and reflective practitioner with demonstrated ability to keep up-to-date in subject area, teaching pedagogies and resources
Involvement within and outside of the department on curricular and co-curricular endeavours in a multi-grade setting;
Liaising with teaching faculty, parents and school leadership as an advocate for students;
Serving as a Homeroom Advisor as part of our pastoral care program
Contribution to the extra-curricular and boarding life of the school.
