Junior School Learning Support Educational Assistant 

1-year Term, Full-time (through the school year), starting September 2024

The Position: 

Under the direction of the Learning Resource Teachers, this Educational Assistant works with high functioning students with various learning exceptionalities who receive small group or individual support with their learning. This role supports our teachers to differentiate instruction through additional instruction and reinforcement. They also support the outcomes identified in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This position requires the ability to work as a member of a team, flexibility and a commitment to professional learning. 

The successful candidate will have the following skills, background and interest: 

Experience or background in supporting students with diverse needs or neurodiverse. 
Education Assistant Certification, or equivalent. 
Understanding of the developmental needs of Junior School students. 
Demonstrated ability in instructing students in a wide variety of learning environments using various strategies. 
Experience in using technology for day-to-day documentation and communication, and assistive technologies to support students with accommodations. 
Strong administrative background and detail oriented. 
Strong communication/collaboration skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team. 

Responsibilities include: 

Support for the notion of pursuing academic success in an environment where the character and self also grow. 
Support a variety of neurodiverse learners with academic, mental health and/or behavioural needs. 
Comfortable with multi-tasking and managing several competing priorities at one time. 
Team player who can anticipate problems and be pro-active in approach. 

Salary: 

Annual Salary Range: $50,513 to $54,677 

Criminal Record Check: 

Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.
