POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Enrollment oversees the Enrollment Office, providing strategic leadership on all aspects of enrollment management, including research, recruitment, retention, and marketing. The Director of Enrollment is responsible for key strategic priorities including diversity, scholarship and financial assistance. A member of the School Leadership Team, the Director of Enrollment helps to advance the school’s mission, core values and strategic priorities. Currently, the Director of Enrollment has two direct reports: the Enrollment Coordinator and the Enrollment Assistant.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, develop, implement and evaluate a yearly enrollment management plan, including a recruitment and retention strategy

  • Work collaboratively with all stakeholders including parent volunteer groups, faculty and staff
  • Make authentic connections with students by attending a wide variety of student led activities
  • Work with the Director of Marketing & Communications to identify promotion and branding opportunities, and define and develop new recruitment initiatives
  • Design and oversee an annual calendar of enrollment events
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of enrollment policies and procedures
  • Measure enrollment and recruitment performance through data tracking, including surveys, focus groups and exit interviews
  • Manage the work of the enrollment office reports in key areas such as the enrollment funnel management
  • Work collaboratively with the Junior and Senior Leadership Teams and Enrollment Committee and play a lead role regarding candidate assessment, interviews and decisions
  • Oversee a team of student and parent ambassadors for school tours
  • Work with the Parent Volunteer Group to coordinate and guide a Parent Liaison Committee
  • Collaborate with the Business Office to ensure streamlined enrollment and re-enrollment processes
  • Produce reports and updates for the Head of School, Board of Directors, Board Committees and Leadership Team members as needed
  • Develop, manage and adhere to an annual enrollment office budget
  • Work with the Head of School and Leadership Team on a Community Engagement Strategy
  • Manage the scholarship and financial assistance program, including policies; promotional strategies; scholarship committee structure; funding; student achievement; renewal processes including communication with students and parents
  • Provide coaching and feedback to the Enrollment Team members
  • Develop professional growth plans with the Enrollment Team members
  • Participate in annual professional development (ISABC, CAIS, EMA, AISAP); work with peers within K-12 independent school community to advance best practices and family-centred processes
  • Any other related duties as assigned by the Head of School

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, skills, abilities and characteristics needed to do the job effectively.

  • University degree; certification in Enrollment Management Association and/or Association of Independent School Admission Professionals an asset
  • Minimum five years’ experience in senior enrollment management role, ideally in K-12 independent schools
    Must legally be eligible to work in Canada at the time of application
  • Excellent communicator and listener; adaptable and open to feedback 
    Self-directed and motivated; places high value on teamwork and collaboration
    Service driven; dedicated to providing the best possible guest/applicant experience
  • Creative problem solver
  • High degree of diplomacy, discretion and tact
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; adept at identifying and interpreting relevant data to inform enrollment strategy and priorities
  • High-level experience with enrollment software, ideally Blackbaud K-12
    Commitment to promoting the school’s vision, mission and core values and to participating in school life
