We are looking for a full-time Grade 6 and 7 Science Teacher to join us on a fixed-term contract.  The successful candidate will join a vibrant, innovative school community focussed on personal excellence, whole child development, and overall wellness.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach the Grade 6 & 7 Science Curriculum in a team-based, collaborative approach
    Provide strategic mentoring with Grade 7 girls in a homeroom setting
    Plan and implement dynamic and interactive lessons
    Develop a student-centered, inquiry-focused, positive and supportive culture for learning
    Integrate meaningful technology into teaching and learning
    Communicate and collaborate with parents, students and administration to support student learning
    Be an active and positive participant in school life including co-curricular activities
    Support the supervision of students during non-instructional time
    Participate in wider school wide events such as community time, student leadership opportunities and outdoor education experiences 

Requirements/ Qualifications:

  • B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification 
    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
    Previous experience teaching in a learning resource capacity would be an asset
    Understanding on how to support diverse learning styles at an elementary level
    Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching
    Excellent written and oral communication skills
    Demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible, highly organized with attention to detail
    Energy, commitment, and readiness to participate in the co-curricular program and the diverse life of the school community

Employment and Application Details:

Position is scheduled to start in January.  There is opportunity for the successful candidate to TOC in December to facilitate a smooth handover from the current teacher.
