Summer Camps Assistant Coordinator

St. John’s School is seeking an organized and motivated individual to support elements of our summer camps programme for children and youth, SJS Summer to Discover.

 

Under the direction of the Summer Camps Coordinator, the Summer Camp Assistant Coordinator will communicate and work cooperatively with participants, parents, and other programme staff, and will be responsible for various administrative and organizational tasks prior to and during camp programmes.

 

The programme runs for four weeks from June 19th to July 14th 2023. Ideal candidates will be available for the duration of the programme, as well as for planning and preparation from May onwards.

 

This position will require primarily on-site work from May to July.

 

Key interactions:

–       Reports to: Summer Camps Programme Coordinator

–       Department: St. John’s School Summer Camps Programme

–       Key interactions: SJS Teachers and Administration, SJS students, Parents, non-SJS students and their families, advertising media

 

 

Role & responsibilities:

–       Monitor registration and participant information through online registration platform

–       Interview candidates for summer camp leader positions

–       Communicate by email with parents and families, responding to inquiries

–       Order and distribute supplies and merchandise

–       Support programme design and planning by camp leaders

–       Organize & facilitate aspects of camp leader training

–       Monitor and manage financial transactions through online registration platform

–       Support camp leaders during programmes

–       Supervise programme sign-in each morning of camp programme and interact directly with parents and campers upon arrival

 

Expected Time Commitment

–       May: approximately 15-20 hours per week

–       June: approximately 30-40 hours per week

–       July: approximately 30-40 hours per week

 

 

 

Qualifications

–       Age 19 or older

–       Completion of Grade 12

–       Experience in recreation or childcare setting(s)

–       Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to establish rapport with children, families, and staff

–       Ability to maintain a high degree of organization

–       Satisfactory criminal record check

–       Emergency First-Aid and CPR-C

–       Contract period: May – July 31, 2023

–       Pay rate: $24.84/hour

Conditions of Employment
●      The successful candidate will be required to complete child abuse prevention training provided by St. John’s School and provide consent for a criminal reference check for vulnerable sector.

●      Clearance on criminal record check for a vulnerable sector is a condition of employment.
