The School
Stratford Hall is an independent, K-12 IB World School located in Vancouver, BC. Our warm, welcoming community is home to over 540 students and over 100 teachers and support staff. Position Rationale and Goal
Under the management of the Principal and in collaboration with the Learning Strategist, the homeroom teacher, and the Junior School Counsellor, the Instructional Aide will support the well-being and learning of one student. The Instructional Aide will use evidence-based intervention strategies to help nurture positive play behaviours, social skills, and emotional regulation. Working individually, in small groups or within the classroom, the Instructional Aide will provide pastoral care, support learning engagement, and maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and well-being.

Qualifications
-
Bachelor of Education or related field.
-
Experience working with 4–10 year-old children.
-
Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written).

Training and/or experience in play-based learning and supporting social-emotional development.
-
Understanding of behaviour intervention strategies and self/co-regulation techniques.
-
Background in social-emotional learning (SEL) programs or initiatives.
-
Training and/or experience in positive behaviour support frameworks.
-
Strong organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
-
Computer-literate with experience in Google Workspace.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Learning
-
Support classroom instruction and facilitate small group learning in collaboration with grade teachers, learning strategists and counsellors.
-
Implement behaviour intervention and regulation strategies tailored to the student’s individual needs.
-
Organize regular body breaks and activities to support emotional and behavioural regulation (and others who may benefit).
-
Manage behaviours and adapt activities to meet the needs of individuals and groups.
-
Ensure the student is actively engaged in their own age-appropriate learning and play opportunities that align with the school’s mission and vision.

Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and well-being.
Organization & Documentation
-
Monitor and document student attendance, behaviour and progress.
-
Create and prepare differentiated teaching resources in collaboration with the homeroom teacher.
-
Implement contingency plans and motivational systems.
-
Manage a daily communication system (e.g. communication book) between school and home if/when required.

Inform appropriate staff members when issues or concerns arise.
Involvement in the Wider School Community

Take an active role within the school community by making a conscious effort to interact with all staff and be aware of current school events and initiatives.

Positively support school initiatives organized by staff, students or parents through active participation and promotion within classrooms.

Promote school unity by attending staff social functions, when possible.

Attend and actively participate in scheduled meetings.

Maintain an active presence in common areas and when supervising.
