Athletics Director (Full-Time)

Southpointe Academy is a leading edge International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum School surrounded by the ocean, beaches and natural beauty of South Delta.  Southpointe features world leading programming through its highly acclaimed IB Primary Years (Grade K-5) and Middle Years (Grade 6-10) programmes. Southpointe is also an official Candidate School for the IB Diploma Programme (Grade 11-12), which will complete its innovative offering of IB from entry to graduation. The educational programme is supported through modern, purpose-built facilities and amenities.

In addition to a teaching commitment, the Athletics Director is responsible for operating and developing the athletics programme. This full-time leadership position commences August 14, 2023,for the 2023-2024 school year.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities
*These may include, but are not limited to…
● Ensure the development of the athletics programme in keeping with overall School strategic priorities;
● Develop the athletic offering to incorporate high interest programming for elementary, middle and senior school students;
● Effectively market the athletic programme internally and externally using a variety of media;
● Work collaboratively under the leadership of the Divisional Principals to match staff members with coaching roles;
● Manage the inventorying and ordering of athletics apparel and supplies, including athletic team uniforms;
● Represent Southpointe at all athletic and association meetings where the School is a member, ensuring that it fulfills its duties and responsibilities therein;
● Assume responsibility for gym and athletic facility use and maintenance, liaising with the Facilities Manager;
● Contribute written pieces for School publications, including Midpointe and the Annual Report;
● Oversee and manage risk in the athletics programme;
● Assist in developing athletic programme policies;
● Ensure programmes are properly implemented, adequately resourced and appropriately staffed.

 

Essential Qualifications/Experience:
● Valid BC Teaching Certificate or Independent School Teaching Certificate Number, (or the ability to obtain a Certificate)
● Strong communication skills, written and oral;
● Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills;
● Current relevant leadership experience in athletic programming, preferred;
● Experience working in a technology-rich environment.

 

Remuneration:
● Commensurate with experience and qualifications
