Special Education Assistant (SEA)  –  Junior School – Full Time 

Initial Appointment: November 18, 2024 – June 30, 2025, with potential to extend

The Junior School Special Education Assistant will work collaboratively with the classroom teachers, outside support services, and the rest of the Student Services team to support students with additional physical, learning, social, or emotional needs. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting students in the classroom setting, supporting the physical, social and emotional needs of students, such as mobility, communication support, providing input to the students Individual Education Plan (IEP), and performing other related tasks as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Special Education Assistant Certificate or Diploma
  • 3+ years experience in working with students with diverse needs
  • Interest in being a part of a dynamic and visionary school community

 

Ideal characteristics:

  • Familiarity with assistive technology, particularity communication supports
  • Experience working with children in the Early Years (Junior Kindergarten-Gr. 5)
  • Current Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR Certification
