Position overview:

Located in North Vancouver, Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School is dedicated to the education of exceptional students, we have 85 educators that work collaboratively to teach students in a dynamic educational environment. In addition to BC prescribed curriculum, we prioritize experiential education, co-curricular activities, social emotional learning, applied skills and the arts.

KGMS is looking to expand our Experiential Education Program and is currently recruiting for Director of Student Life – Athletics, Outdoor Education and Co-curricular. This is a non-union position, reporting directly to the Senior Leadership Team. This position would begin August 21st, 2023.

The Director – Athletics, Outdoor Education and Co-curricular would support our K – 12 program, collaborate with educators to develop a comprehensive, sequential and targeted Experiential Program that meets the needs of our diverse population. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about ensuring that all students have access to extra and co-curricular opportunities that provide opportunities for students to apply their learning outside of the traditional classroom. The Director will work directly with Leadership to develop programs that meet the needs of the KGMS student body.

  • British Columbia Teacher certification
  • High school teaching experience
  • Masters Degree an asset
  • 3 years experience in a leadership position

Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Collaborating on program design
  • Coordination extracurricular activities outside of the school schedule
  • Research, coordinate and organize outdoor education programs
  • Manage student regulation and work in a restorative manner
  • Assist in Risk Management as it pertains to portfolio
  • Establish community connections
  • Training / orientation of staff as necessary
  • Be actively involved in programs outside of the traditional school schedule
