Brentwood College School, a globally recognized independent boarding school with a distinguished 100-year rowing tradition, invites applications for the part-time position of Lead Rowing Coach, Senior Program. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced, performance coach to lead a premier inclusive and competitive program dedicated to the Brentwood Standard: Excellence—both on and off the water. 

The Scope of the Role

The Lead Coach isn’t just a coach; they’re the driving force behind the assigned senior program’s success. This dynamic role calls for a master strategist who can balance performance coaching with smooth program execution and exceptional athlete mentorship. You’ll be the one directly steering a competitive senior team, translating vision into reality by meticulously crafting and adapting a sophisticated Yearly Training Plan (YTP) alongside the Head of Rowing (HOR). This means managing everything from daily technical direction and workout plans to the high-stakes process of crew selection.

Beyond the water, you’ll ensure the ship runs tight, handling all program administration, delivering weekly reports to the HOR, and collaborating closely with the Junior and Senior Novice Coach to guarantee a seamless progression pipeline for our rising stars. Above all, you are the champion of safety and sportsmanship, upholding the highest standards while traveling to regattas, managing camps, and supporting the maintenance of our world-class fleet. This role is a perfect fit for a seasoned coach who possesses competitive rowing experience, exceptional organizational “oar-der”, and an undeniable passion for developing the whole student-athlete. At its core, the program prioritizes the student-athlete experience. We are committed to developing the holistic student-athlete, fostering invaluable traits such as Grit, Determination, Teamwork, and Work Ethic in a fun and engaging environment.

The Lead Coach is expected to commit to an afternoon training schedule 6 days per week during the school year, totaling 15–18 hours weekly for approximately 30 weeks. Periods of additional intensity, which include extended hours for on-water training camps and multi-day regatta participation, are required throughout the season. All necessary travel expenses incurred for team competitions are covered and paid for by Brentwood College School.
