Junior Kindergarten ECE (Full Time Maternity Leave Position)

Start Date: December 11th, 2023

End Date: January 08th, 2025

Hours: Monday to Friday from 9:15 – 5:15

  • Competitive wages starting at $28/hr (inclusive of $6 per hour Wage Enhancement subsidy)

Qualifications:

  • Valid ECE certificate (Please provide a copy of your certificate with your application)
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • Two Practicum or Childcare Workplace Written References
  • Must be a current Canadian resident, legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Up-to-date record of immunizations

Additions—Not required:

  • Bachelors’ degree in related field
  • IB training or experience
  • Free-Play and Whole Child based philosophy
  • Experience with Google, Seesaw and MySchool technology
  • Food Safe Certificate

  • Contribute to the on-going operation of the Centre
  • Knowledge of Licensing regulations; ensuring the Centre meets all requirements on a daily basis
  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Be physically capable (able to sit on the floor, move up and down with ease, bend and stoop to meet children’s eye level)
  • Have an understanding that working hours may occasionally require extending beyond the scheduled 8hr shift (i.e. staff meetings, Early Learning Fair)

Role specific expectations

  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toileting habits
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral challenges and assist in preparing reports for parents, guardians or supervisors when necessary
  • Assist in maintaining an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and incorporating movement
  • Provide opportunities to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • Participate in Early Years events outside of working hours (i.e. Early Learning Fair/Staff Meetings)
  • Maintain a professional demeanor
  • Strong communication with children, parents & educators
  • Computer and organizational skills
  • Work well with others in a team environment as well as alone with a group of children
  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality
  • Plan and implement PE activities for JK students
  • Contribute to JK report cards
  • Document JK student’s learning and development
